“Umoja” is the Kiswahili word for “unity” or togetherness.

At Umoja Healing Therapy, we embody the concept of Umoja throughout our work.

Umoja is about you feeling whole again.
We believe that the deepest personal healing happens when we can bring together the separate parts of ourselves including our gifts, qualities, talents as well as our struggles, pains and even trauma. Honing your strengths and mending your wounds will help you to see yourself as whole again.
Umoja is practiced with you and your therapist.
You do not have to struggle alone. You will work together with a caring and experienced therapist who holds a safe space for you to be yourself without judgment, holds your pain with you, helps guide you through what you are struggling with, and mirrors back your strengths so that you can feel better and live your life more fully. What you learn through your relationship with your therapist can also help improve the relationships you have with others in your life.

Umoja brings families together amidst adversity.
Strong families can weather any storm. If your family is in need of support, you all will work together with a caring and experienced therapist who will help your family to get to the heart of the issues, build stronger communication and work together to establish healthier dynamics that work for everyone and keep you all resilient amidst new challenges.
Umoja builds community and collective growth.
Through community and building strong relationships with others, we can practice being our authentic selves and embody strength as we navigate the world. If you are interested in group therapy, guided by a caring and experienced therapist, you will have the opportunity to exchange insights and engage in mutual support with others who experience struggles similar to yours. Along with experiencing personal and group healing, group members will build the capacity to practice empowering ways to navigate the world outside and resist the harmful impacts of systemic oppression.
